🧮 An asset is an investment vehicle. It is a property, or a security, or anything that can be bought, then kept, then sold with the aim of obtaining a return or a capital gain.
Its main characteristics are profitability, risk and liquidity.
- profitability is what can be expected (an amount or percentage) over variable periods of time;
- risk or, which comes to the same thing, volatility, it is the ability to fluctuate in a possibly significant way along the way;
- liquidity is the ease or difficulty of resale.
As a rule, the asset is characterised by a security or a contract producing income or a capital gain for its owner. Financial assets are therefore considered as investments.
A financial asset is therefore an intangible asset of a monetary nature.
So we can't touch it.
